About

Bea Portabella is an architectural practice founded in 2006. With more than 10 years’ experience, both in the field of architecture as well as interior design, one preserves the course of action while defining the concepts that will be reflected and repeated throughout the projects. The practice’s philosophy is based on understanding each assignment from a conceptual point of view. The result is always a project intimately related to a context and a purpose. We believe that a successful project is the fruit of the continuity in the design process and of an extensive dialog between the developer, consultant, contractors, and technicians. We have a wonderful profession and we are lucky enough to be able to fulfill people’s dreams through our work. Each new project is a new challenge, a new dream. In each of our projects, we aim to achieve the same objective: being the creation of a high degree of warmth in the living space.

In essence, our work is to create an environment in which to live, work and personally develop. In this way, these spaces will provide harmony, enveloping us and facilitating the development of their intended functional objective. Our work must be above transitory fashions and trends, but rather being nurtured from the classics and traditions. At a time when everything is increasingly ephemeral, what has been learnt from traditions becomes essential. There have been infinitive definitions of architecture. Below I present those that most reflect my philosophy and most inspire me.

If you ignore man, architecture is unnecessary.  Álvaro Siza

Architecture is only considered complete with the intervention of the human being that experiences it. Tadao Ando

Architecture is the art of organizing the space.  Auguste Perret

Architecture is life, or at least it is life itself taking form and therefore it is the truest record of life as it was lived in the world yesterday, as it is lived today or ever will be lived

Frank Lloyd Wright
